Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
Shelter Facility - 36 beds; 12 rooms; 4 units
Program Length of Stay - Alliance provides critical emergency food and shelter to the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. Client services include laundry, hygiene kits, clothing, semi-private rooms and access to household items and furniture
Shelter Program – Clients stay 30-45 days, with opportunity to extend to 60 days. Clients have the opportunity to transfer to the Bakersfield Homeless Center (BHC) program after 60 days
Rapid Re-Housing Assistance - Clients are able to apply for rehousing assistance while they are at the shelter. This will alleviate the costs of rent when the clients are ready to move out
Case Management Program - Through extensive case management Alliance staff address the core issues of domestic violence and sexual assault. Case plans are developed specifically to address each individual situation – family dynamics, employment, housing. Staff also provides court accompaniment
Clothing, Household and Furniture – Referral through case managers
Meals/Snacks – Provides 30,000 per year plus morning, afternoon and evening snacks
Job Development - Mentor Program, Resume Workshop; Interview Techniques; Job Search; Life Skills; ESL classes; GED; Collaboration with BHC Job Development Department
GED Program - Access to 20-week GED Program implemented at the Bakersfield Homeless Center
Counseling - A counselor meets weekly with clients in group and individual sessions
Peer Counseling Groups - A peer counselor works with individuals to address the issues of domestic violence, including awareness, healthy relationships, parenting, community resources, safety plans
Health Care – Access to Bakersfield Homeless Center Health Care Center – evaluation and treatment by volunteer medical and dental professionals and preventive education
Childcare – On-site childcare offers curriculum and activities for any age children while mother is involved in on-site activities
On-Site Tutor - The Bakersfield City School District provides an on-site tutor one day per week
Transportation Assistance - Alliance provides clients with necessary bus passes; emergency taxi service and transportation to court
Temporary Restraining Order Assistance – Staff provides instructions and answers questions regarding TROs and assists throughout court proceedings.
