Volunteer Opportunities

volunteer2: Volunteers of the year!
How to be involved...

The Alliance Against Family Violence & Sexual Assault is committed to stopping domestic violence and sexual assault in our community. For over twenty-one years we have assisted those who have suffered from these crimes to reclaim their lives.

Some of our services include 24-Hour Hotline and Hospital Accompaniment Programs, Shelter for battered women and their children, Counseling services for victims and their families, and Prevention and Education Programs for youth, the general public and the professionals who come in contact with victims of these crimes. In addition, we work with the Courts, law enforcement agencies and with the District Attorney’s Office to provide support and assistance for those who are victimized and to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable. The Alliance needs your help in order to continue providing these services for our community.

Volunteers donate thousands of hours each year - with their help we can make every dollar stretch farther.  You too can help - volunteers are caring community members just like you.  Whether you want to help victims; work at the reception desk; perform maintenence and repair tasks; or help to raise dollars - we have a volunteer job for you.

Before working with clients, volunteers must first complete an intensive training course.  Alliance offers this course three times a year: contact our Volunteer / Hotline Coordinator or via phone at 322-0931 ext. 41 to receive the next training course dates and syllabus.

If you would like to work on a fundraiser, please call 322-9199, our Administrative Office.

For those who like to answer phones, perform maintenance and repair tasks, or have another talent and area of interest - email our Volunteer Coordinator to learn more about how you can help.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
